Overview

Join the interprofessional healthcare team for an engaging, evidence-based discussion addressing medical misinformation and clinical practice updates. This episode covers key updates on mental health medications and hantavirus to support informed clinical decision-making, improve team communication, and enhance patient care.


Objectives

Following this enduring material, the learner should be able to:


  1. Describe the appropriate use of SSRIs in the treatment of Generalized Anxiety Disorder and distinguish them from benzodiazepines in clinical practice.
  2. Counsel patients on SSRI side effects, expected time to therapeutic effect, and the importance of adherence.
  3. Identify common misconceptions about SSRIs, including their effects on weight and sexual function, and provide evidence-based clarification.
  4. Recognize the clinical presentation, transmission, and prevention strategies for Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome (HPS) and Hemorrhagic Fever with Renal Syndrome (HFRS).
