Overview
This interprofessional activity is designed to strengthen collaborative, evidence-based care for trauma and critically ill patients, particularly in rural and resource-limited settings. The symposium will provide healthcare professionals with current knowledge and practical strategies related to assessment, stabilization, triage, treatment, transfer, and effective use of available resources. Participants will examine health disparities that may affect trauma care and identify opportunities to improve multidisciplinary analysis, communication, clinical decision-making, and coordination across professions and healthcare facilities.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Apply current evidence based trauma care recommendations in rural and resource limited settings.
  2. Use clinical decision making strategies to guide trauma assessment, stabilization, triage, treatment, and transfer.
  3. Collaborate with members of the interprofessional healthcare team to clarify roles, communicate effectively, and coordinate timely trauma care across professions and facilities.
  4. Identify health disparities and resource limitations that may affect trauma care and select appropriate strategies to support equitable, timely, and coordinated treatment.
  5. Use available clinical, community, and referral resources effectively when managing trauma and critically ill patients in rural and resourcelimited settings.
