This enduring material prepares members of the interprofessional healthcare team to recognize postpartum psychosis, distinguish psychotic delusions from ego-dystonic intrusive thoughts associated with perinatal OCD or depression, and evaluate maternal and infant safety concerns. The session reviews clinical presentation, risk factors, differential diagnosis, medical and psychiatric assessment, evidence-based treatment strategies, sleep preservation, medication and lactation considerations, family involvement, and coordination among obstetric, psychiatric, nursing, social work, psychology, physician assistant, pediatric, emergency care, and other healthcare professionals.

1. Recognize the clinical presentation of postpartum psychosis and its impact on maternal health and child safety.
2. Examine the prevalence of postpartum psychosis, OCD, suicide, and homicide in the perinatal period and briefly discuss the justice system in postpartum psychosis cases.
3. Distinguish between intrusive thoughts and psychosis in the perinatal period, highlighting the differences in symptoms and treatment.
4. Identify pathophysiology of postpartum psychosis, current theories, and evidencebased treatment strategies for reducing symptoms.
5. Collaborate with members of the interprofessional healthcare team to assess safety, distinguish postpartum psychosis from intrusive thoughts, and coordinate timely treatment, referral, and support for postpartum patients and their families.

Registration is required to participate in this enduring material and claim credit. Go to the TTUHSC CloudCME portal and select the activity. After registering, select My CME from the menu, then select Tests to access the pre-test, educational video, post-test, and evaluation. Learners must complete all required components to receive credit.
